Welcome to my online universe!

Thank you for visiting my online realm, my own little corner of the cosmos. This is the website of Roy Kaelin.

Let's see what going on in the cosmos:

This is where you can see how artists can work with pencil, how authors wield the pen, and how astronomers watch the skies.  I have interests in all of these areas, so I've carved out this corner of the cosmos to bring to you a few samples of these interests.

On these pages I detail some of my endeavors, namely, drawing portraits of pets and wildlife in my favorite media, writing popular astronomy articles and stories of science fiction, and constructing a variety of telescopes.

Check this site often for a new installment every month of Sky Roundup, which features what you can see on a clear night from the Great Lakes region, particularly across the great Midwest.  For every month, I post the night-sky highlights as seen from the heartland, including star charts that show what you can see and where to look.

Also, be certain to check the Sky Roundup Almanac that lists significant astronomical events and the local times at which you can view them best.  You can visit previous installments of Sky Roundup in the Sky Roundup Archives.

Check out both sobering and silly stuff from the colonized side of the universe in News Across the Cosmos, where I collect and relay a summaries of viewpoints on topics from the world of science under the title, It's all geek to me.

View unique night-sky venues in my Cool Cosmic Places, which usually includes a favorite observatory or locale to visit online or perhaps in person for outdoor observing.

If you're a teacher or a professional who also teaches at one's place of work, please take time to complete an education survey at the page marked Take a Survey.

Or, read about a neat A New Telescope I've designed and had built that makes it easy for most observers to view the night sky in relative comfort.

Or, read a summary of my recent book, The Star Machine and Other Tales, a collection of science-fiction short stories for all ages.  Find the page that gives you a synopsis at Launch of My Book

You can order hardcover editions and paperbacks online from several fine booksellers, one from which you can link to at this website.

Or, if you prefer to navigate away (and I don't why you would!), then click on my Links to Other Worlds to visit fun family-friendy sites around the online universe.

Dash off an email to me.  It won't get lost in the aether!
