Welcome to my corner of the cosmos!
Thank you for stopping by. This is the home website of science teacher, astronomy enthusiast, ham radio hobbyist, and pencil artist, Roy Kaelin. Please take time to look around, and, to explore the pages that highlight my interests in astronomy and other natural sciences.
Not only teaching and stargazing, but drawing holds my interest as well. Please visit the companion site, here, at artwork.roykaelin.com for my portraits in pencil and my digital imagery, hosted by Fine Art America.
In addition to drawing and digital photography, I have an interest in writing. You can explore another companion website here, at books.roykaelin.com to read summaries on a couple of my books: one of science fiction, and, another on an innovative telescope design. Both books you can purchase there.
In the meantime, check this site often for a new installment every month of Sky Roundup, which features what you can see on a clear night across the great Midwest, particularly from the Great Lakes region. For every month, I post the night-sky highlights as seen from the heartland, including star charts that show what you can see and where to look. On that page, too, scroll down for my monthly Sky Roundup Almanac. Earlier and past installments of Sky Roundup are now found at the menu tab labeled Sky Archive.
As I like to share my interest of the night sky and ways to extend my gaze across the heavens, I'd like for you to read about A Telescope For All, which I've designed and had built, that makes it easy for most observers to view the night sky in relative comfort. You can read more about this distinctive design in a little book (shown above, right), published recently, and, available from my book website at this link.
Finally, if you'd like to navigate away from this site (and why would you do that?), you'll find a host of fun-friendly links to other worlds at the menu tab marked Great Links! at the top of this page.
Dash off an email to me, or, post a comment. It won't get lost in the aether!
